The International Monetary Fund may increase funding for Ukraine to $8 billion, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in a comment to reporters.

"Every day we are negotiating with the International Monetary Fund. Now we have agreed to increase the program," the head of state said, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"As for the IMF, now we can get a minimum increase in the program to $8 billion. Speaking in general, together with [the aid from] the World Bank and the EBRD, we could receive a minimum of $10 billion," Zelensky said.

According to him, the condition for receiving funds from the IMF is to adopt two laws – on banks and land reform.

Zelensky says that once all conditions are met, within 15 days, Ukraine could receive from the IMF the first quick tranche of $1.75-2 billion.

"I think that it will be $2 billion, and it will go immediately to the state budget of Ukraine – not to the NBU, but to the state budget of Ukraine, and we will be able to support our people," the president added.
