National Bank spends US$76.8 mln on March 23-27 to support hryvnia

The central bank reduced interventions in the past week.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) last week, on March 23-27, sold US$76.8 million on the interbank foreign exchange market to support the hryvnia, Ukraine's national currency.

Earlier, the NBU was selling US$1 billion for two weeks in a row each, on March 10-13 and on March 16-20, according to the regulator's website.

Since the beginning of the year, the regulator's sales on the interbank forex market have exceeded purchases by US$1.5 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine set the official forex rate for Monday, March 30, at UAH 28.18 to the U.S. dollar, while at UAH 28.18 to the euro.
