Ukraine sees over US$765 mln budget deficit in Jan-Feb

The country's consolidated budget over the period under review also saw a US$90.4 million deficit.

The deficit of Ukraine's national budget in January-February 2020 was estimated at UAH 21.570 billion, or US$765.4 million, which was 1.6 times up from UAH 13.708 billion (486.4 million) in deficit reported year-over-year (y-o-y).

The deficit of the country's consolidated budget over the period under review was UAH 2.548 billion (US$90.4 million) against UAH 4.718 billion (US$167.4 million) y-o-y, according to Ukraine's Treasury Service.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers approved and submitted for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, draft amendments to the 2020 national budget, suggesting a UAH 200 billion (US$7.1 billion) increase in the budget deficit, or up to 6% of GDP.

The national budget for 2020 foresees UAH 1.096 trillion (US$38.89 billion) in revenue and UAH 1.182 trillion (US$41.94 billion) in spending. The budget deficit is capped at UAH 94.3 billion (US$3.35 billion), and the country's state debt is limited to UAH 2.363 trillion (US$83.85 billion).
