Ukraine's official hryvnia continues strengthening, set at UAH 27.63 to U.S. dollar on April 1

The official forex rate against the euro for Wednesday is fixed at UAH 30.26 per euro.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on March 31 set the official forex rate for April 1 at UAH 27.63 to the U.S. dollar, which let the country's national currency strengthen by 43 kopiykas.

The hryvnia became stronger after it had gained 12 kopiykas in value against U.S. dollar on Tuesday, March 31, according to the NBU website.

The official forex rate against the euro for Wednesday is fixed at UAH 30.26 per euro – the hryvnia gained 70 kopiykas in value since Tuesday.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank bought US$64 million on the interbank foreign exchange market on March 31.

Positive news from the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, which passed certain bills bringing Ukraine closer to the new program with the International Monetary Fund, probably encouraged the forex market. So, the supply of currency from the businesses exceeded demand, while the hryvnia strengthened to UAH 27.6 per dollar.

According to the NBU, its interventions have become positive for the first time since the start of the booming demand for foreign currency over the coronavirus outbreak.
