Deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade halves amid coronavirus

The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services in January and February 2020 amounted to US$590 million, which was half the figure reported in the same period of 2019.

As the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) said on its website, the deficit of foreign trade in goods over this period decreased by 29%, to US$1.013 billion, while the surplus of foreign trade in services increased by 1.5 times, to US$423 million.

UNIAN memo. The State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported that the deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in 2019 was US$3.633 billion, which was 41.2% down on the 2018 deficit.

At the same time, the NBU estimates the deficit of the country's foreign trade in goods and services in 2019 at US$12.117 billion, saying it was 7% up year-over-year.
