Jointly with the Finance Ministry, the NBU decided to transfer the entire amount immediately.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has transferred UAH 42.7 billion (US$1.54 billion) to the national budget, that is the entire amount of the last year's profit planned to be channeled into the budget.
"In such a way, the National Bank helps the government in the difficult task of overcoming the epidemic in Ukraine. Today, the national budget has a considerable financial burden of combating coronavirus in the country, and supporting businesses and citizens," the regulator wrote on Facebook on April 2.

According to the NBU, it was decided jointly with the Finance Ministry to transfer the entire amount of profit immediately.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine on March 31 approved the NBU's annual financial statements and profit distribution for 2019.
Ukraine's budget for 2020 provides for the transfer by the National Bank to the State Treasury of at least UAH 40.7 billion (US$1.5 million) in profit for 2019.
The National Bank in 2019 channeled into the national budget UAH 64.9 billion (US$2.3 billion) in profit received in 2018.
