Ukraine's Minister of Economy, Trade, and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko has met with Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine Kwon Ki-Chang to discuss further cooperation in the agricultural sector, in particular, an increase in bilateral trade.

"According to the minister, a promising area in relations with Korea is agriculture, namely boosting exports and expanding the range of agricultural and food products, implementing joint projects for the production of agricultural machinery, accelerating certification of dairy and poultry products in Korea, encouraging Korean investments in Ukraine's agriculture, etc.," the ministry's press service said on its website on April 3.
In East Asia, South Korea is one of major trading partners of Ukraine, their bilateral trade grew to US$831.7 million in 2019, the report said.
In addition, the parties discussed cooperation to counter the spread of the coronavirus.
"Mutual support and exchange of experience with our international partners to counter this threat is crucial. We will be grateful to our Korean colleagues for any help in providing us with medical equipment, tests, special medical gear and masks for healthcare personnel," the press service quoted Petrashko as saying.
UNIAN memo. Ukraine in 2019 updated its historical record of agri-exports, having supplied agricultural products worth US$22.4 billion, which was almost 20% up from 2018.
In total, Ukraine's agri-food imports in 2019 stood at US$6.1 billion, which was 11% up year-on-year.
