The Ukrainian side has not imposed any restrictions.

Russian gas monopoly Gazprom has not allowed a number of European companies to receive gas at the Ukraine-Russia border for its subsequent delivery to Europe via Ukraine.

That's according to the press service of the state-owned Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, citing CEO Serhiy Makogon.

A number of European traders have already turned to Gazprom to receive gas at the Ukraine-Russia border, but were denied, the press service told UNIAN.

"They asked them to have gas transferred at the Ukraine-Russia border, but so far, as far as I know, there is no positive response," said Makogon.

At the same time, he noted that no restrictions have been imposed by the Ukrainian side.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on December 30, 2019, Ukraine and Russia signed a new 5-year gas transit contract with an option of extension to ten years.

The document stipulates that Gazprom should transmit a minimum of 65 billion cubic meters via Ukraine in the first year and 40 bcm each in the next four years.
