Ukraine releases fresh inflation report

Inflation in March slowed down to 2.3% in annual terms. Compared to the previous month, consumer prices rose by 0.8%, and from year-start – by 0.7%.

Consumer inflation in Ukraine in March 2020 in annual terms amounted to 2.3%, slowing down from 2.4% in February, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reports.

Against the previous month, consumer prices in March rose by 0.8%, and from year-start – by 0.7%.

Statistics say the largest price increase in March in annual terms was recorded for water supply services – by 26.2%, sewage – by 21.6%, fruit – by 14.4%, education services – by 13.5%, liquor and tobacco – by 12.1%.

The largest price drops were recorded for natural gas (39.2%), eggs (33.3%), vegetables (14.9%), hot water and heating supplies (8.1%), fuel and oil (7.7%).

The State Statistics Service recalls that the data are provided excluding the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as the occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine in 2019 slowed to 4.1%, hitting the minimum mark over the past six years.

In January, the National Bank of Ukraine lowered its forecast for consumer price growth in Ukraine in 2020 to 4.8% from 5% forecasted earlier, while announcing a revision in April.
