No more than $1,730 a month: Zelensky announces salary cuts for civil servants

Million-worth salaries and bonuses will remain a thing of the past.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that monthly salaries of all civil servants, regardless of rank and position, will amount to no more than UAH 47,000 ($1.730) starting April.

The statement came in a video address to the nation posted on the Facebook page of the President's Office.

"All officials should tighten their belts: starting April, regardless of rank and position, their salary shall not exceed UAH 47,000. This applies to everyone: judges, people's deputies, prosecutors, employees of the National Bank of Ukraine, the CEC, and many other officials," Zelensky said.

According to the president, the same restrictions shall apply to members of supervisory boards of state-run companies.
