Rada's Budget Committee approves draft amendments to 2020 national budget

In the draft, the coronavirus response fund has been reduced by UAH 2 billion, to UAH 64.9 billion ($2.39 billion).

The Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee has approved draft amendments to the state budget for 2020, says MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.

Compared with the draft submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers, certain changes were made, the MP reported via Telegram.

"The coronavirus response fund has been reduced by UAH 2 billion, now being proposed in the amount of UAH 64.9 billion ($2.39 billion); a subsidy to farmers in the amount of UAH 4 billion ($150 million) has been restored (the Cabinet had offered UAH 2.5 billion); UAH 100 million ($3.68 million) was added for the construction of the Dnipro Airport (Cabinet had not had such item in its draft); UAH 21 million ($770,000) was added for the Ukrainian Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; and UAH 15 million ($550,000) was added to the Sofiyivka National Park," Honcharenko noted.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Parliament will consider draft amendments to the 2020 state budget at an extraordinary meeting on April 13.

Earlier, the bill provided for the creation of a coronavirus response fund in the amount of UAH 66 billion. The funds were set to be spent on payments to doctors, purchase of medical equipment and support to citizens who, due to quarantine, lost their jobs. Also, the fund was set to provide financial assistance to the families of doctors who died from coronavirus.

In addition, changes to the state budget provided for UAH 30 billion for indexing pensions and paying pensioners assistance in the amount of UAH 1,000.
