The resumption of public transportation services across Ukraine will be carried out in stages – taking into account the dynamics of the coronavirus spread and the rate of fatalities, says Ukraine's Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Krykliy.

"In the case of positive dynamics, a decrease in the number of coronavirus cases and deaths, we will gradually reduce the restrictions," he said, according to Obozrevatel.

The minister explained that he was talking about all types of transport, including subway.

"It would be premature to name any specific dates. It will definitely be no earlier than May. But I would predict June or July," the minister said. "It all depends on each of us, how adequately we follow the restrictions, how we comply with them, in particular self-isolation, how we adhere to face mask regime, how we refrain from barbecues and visits to relatives and friends on weekends, how we don't endanger other people around us, and how we maintain social distancing," the minister stressed.

National quarantine has been introduced across Ukraine until April 24. The health ministry says the decision to prolong, ease or lift quarantine restrictions will be made closer to that date.
