Cattle population sees 7.2% decline in Ukraine

Poultry population is down by 2%.

Ukraine's statistics agency says cattle population as of April 1, 2020, amounted to 3.366 million, which is 7.2% below the figure reported on the same date a year ago.

This includes 1.78 million cows, which is 6.5% fewer on year.

Also, the agency says 5.78 million pigs is 6.2% below last year's figure, while sheep and lamb numbers are down by 5.6%, amounting to 1.38 million.

Poultry population decreased by 2%, to 200.6 million.

UNIAN memo. In 2019, cattle population in Ukraine also saw a decline of 5.7%, amounting to 3.14 million, while 5.7 million pigs was 4.9% below the 2018 numbers, sheep and lambs – down by 4.7%, to 1.2 million, and poultry – up by 3,6%, to 219.3 million.
