The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is ready to support Ukraine in arranging gas supplies from the European Union, as well as in the issues related to the privatization of state-owned property, EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti told reporters.
Last year, the Bank supported the reverse flow of gas from the Slovak Republic, and this year the Bank intends to take part in similar projects with other international institutions, such as the World Bank, to help organize gas shipments from the EU, Chakrabarti said.
He also noted that the EBRD has extensive experience in consulting and assisting in the issues related to privatization, so its engagement in the process would be effective.
Chakrabarti also said the Bank was ready to assist Ukraine in privatization, but noted it was necessary to clearly outline privatization targets, procedure and timing.
