Ukraine's hryvnia becomes stronger pending Orthodox Easter holidays

The national currency strengthened by 13 kopiykas compared to April 17.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on Friday, April 17, set the official forex rate of the Ukrainian hryvnia against the U.S. dollar at UAH 27.07 per U.S. dollar for the next banking day on Tuesday, April 21.

Thus, the hryvnia strengthened by 13 kopiykas pending Orthodox Easter holidays, compared to the official forex rate set for April 17 at UAH 27.20.

As the NBU said on its website, the official forex rate of the hryvnia against the euro for April 21 is set at UAH 29.42 per euro, which let the Ukrainian currency strengthen by 21 kopiykas compared to Friday's rate set at UAH 29.63 per euro.

As of 16:00 Kyiv time on Friday, hryvnia-to-dollar quotes on the country's interbank forex market were set at UAH 27.07/27.10 per U.S. dollar, and UAH 29.37/29.40 per euro.

The U.S. dollar at Kyiv's exchange booths on Friday morning lost 10 kopiykas in value on the average, as the rate was UAH 27.40 per U.S. dollar. The value of the euro decreased by 15 kopiykas, and the rate was UAH 29.80 per euro.
