Ukraine could additionally store 10 bcm of European gas – GTS operator

CEO of Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) LLC Serhiy Makogon says Ukrainian underground storage facilities (USFs) in 2020 could additionally take 10 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas from European companies for storage.

"By the end of the third quarter, European underground storage facilities may be completely filled. Ukrainian USFs can additionally accept 10 billion cubic meters of gas," he said on Facebook on April 21.

As UNIAN reported earlier, natural gas stocks in Ukraine's underground storage facilities grew by 1.6%, to 16.19 bcm within a week, April 11-18.

UNIAN memo. Twelve underground gas storages with a total storage capacity of about 31 bcm are being operated in Ukraine. In the past decade, Ukraine uses only 50-60% of its storage capacity. Five largest Ukrainian underground storage facilities are located in Ukraine's west, some 160 km from the border with Hungary.
