"We are initiating a round-table discussion. We will invite the transport minister, the governor of Odesa region," said Aron Mayberg, Chief of the UIA’s Supervisory Board, at a press conference in UNIAN.

The official outlined ten steps aimed at reducing transportation costs in Ukraine. Among them is reduction of fuel prices to correspond with the European level, bringing currency legislation in line with international standards, namely to abolish the requirement for the airlines to sell 75% of foreign currency receipts, lowering the interest rate of airline companies to 5%, as well as introduction of preferential rates for domestic flights.

Mayberg also suggested establishing zero VAT rate regarding domestic flights and import of spare parts for aircraft maintenance.

He also stated that the company plans to reach zero profitability by the end of 2015.

"We hope to finish this year with zero profitability. Currently, the company generates no profit," said Mayberg.

As UNIAN reported earlier, UIA expects a passenger flow of nearly 4.9 million by the end of the year.

The average tariff for international flights in H1 amounted to $ 112, while the average tariff for domestic flights was $ 63, according to the company.
