Finance Ministry expects IMF decision on second tranche by late July

Ukrainian Finance Ministry expects a decision from the International Monetary Fund on allocation of $ 1.7 billion in the second tranche under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) by the end of July, Ukraine’s Deputy Finance Minister Anton Shevalev told reporters at a briefing yesterday, July 9.

"We will confirm the adoption of laws, the Fund will receive a legal opinion from its lawyers whether those laws are appropriate, and will submit its conclusion to the Board," Shevalev said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine is implementing a reform program agreed with the IMF, which provides for allocation of $ 17.5 billion in Ukraine under the new EFF during a four-year term. The first $ 5 billion tranche was received immediately after the approval of the program in March.

As noted by the ministry, Ukraine may not receive $ 3.2 billion of loan funds from the International Monetary Fund and World Bank if Ukrainian parliament fails to adopt five necessary bills next week as preconditions for receiving the next tranche.
