Increase in Ukraine’s monetary base and money supply insignificant last month

In June, the monetary base in Ukraine increased by 0.2%, to UAH 330.4 billion, the money supply expanded by 1.1%, to UAH 974.5 billion, according the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) website.

The monetary base has contracted by 0.8% since the beginning of the year, while money supply increased by 1.9% during the same period, the NBU reported.

The amount of cash outside banks increased by 0.9%, in June (a year-to-date increase of 1.1%) to UAH 286.0 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in May the monetary base contracted by 0.2% to UAH 329.6 billion, the money supply – down by 1.3% to UAH 967.6 billion.

In 2014, the money supply increased by UAH 44.851 billion, or 4.9%, to UAH 953.846 billion, while the monetary base expanded by 8.5%, or UAH 26.055 billion, to UAH 333.194 billion.
