Yatsenyuk calls on creditors to accept Ukraine’s offer in Washington

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk called on the creditors to accept Ukraine’s offer on debt restructuring during a Ukraine – US Investment Forum in Washington, D.C.

“I ask the creditors to unite and be constructive,” said Yatsenyuk, adding that [the creditors] accepting Ukraine’s offer on a $15.3 billion public debt restructuring is “critical” to our country and means real help to the Ukrainian people.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the agreement with the creditors would eventually be reached.

"We believe that we can achieve success in debt restructuring. It's very important," said Yatsenyuk.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine’s Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko was to hold her first official meeting with the Creditors’ Committee in Washington on July 15 to discuss public debt restructuring.

As part of the program with the IMF, Ukraine has been conducting negotiations with the creditors on restructuring its public debt, regarding extension of maturities, reduction of the coupon and writing-off part of the debt’s nominal value. The measures aim at saving $5.2 billion on debt securities payments in 2015 and up to $15.3 in the next four years.
