The issue of gas supplies is currently being negotiated and the amount of financial assistance is estimated at $250-300 million in the form of loan, according to the Bank’s Director for Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on July 2, EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti told reporters in Kyiv that the Bank was ready to support Ukraine in organizing gas supplies from the EU.

Last year, the Bank supported the reverse flow of gas from the Slovak Republic, and this year, the Bank intends to take part in similar projects with other international institutions, such as the World Bank, to help organize gas shipments from the EU, Chakrabarti said.

As reported earlier, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine suspended gas purchases from Russia's OAO Gazprom, starting from July 1, given the expiration of the 2nd quarter terms package and the absence of agreed supply conditions for the upcoming periods during the tripartite talks in Vienna.

The EBRD is the largest international financial investor in Ukraine. As of May 1, 2015 it had a total cumulative commitment of EUR 10.94 billion in 343 projects across the country.
