The first search is being carried out in the office of Dmytro Popel, who is an adviser to the General Director for Finance.

The law enforcement officers' activity is allegedly connected with the so-called case of energy suppliers, the Center wrote, referring to a source in Ukrzaliznytsia.

Ukrzaliznytsia in turn announced that investigative actions and searches in its office are connected with an investigation into the fact of corrupt practices in electricity supplies.

"On July 15, a joint team of the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Interior Ministry in Kyiv and Kyiv region launched searches under a Kyiv Pechersk Court ruling in a number of Ukrzaliznytsia's departments and in the office of an adviser to the General Director and the heads of the electrification and power supply department," the announcement said.

The administration said that these actions were carried out as part of a pre-trial investigation into criminal proceedings of June 25, 2015, into corrupt practices of the electricity supply at unregulated rates.

"The investigative actions by law enforcement officers are in no way associated with the activity of the new head of the railway sector, who was appointed on July 7, 2015," Ukrzaliznytsia said.
