Ukrnafta threatens to sue Saakashvili

Ukraine's largest oil company Ukrnafta asks Chairman of Odesa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili to refute his statement voiced earlier on air of the Ukrainian 1+1 TV channel that the company incurred UAH 80 billion losses in 2014, the company wrote in its statement.

The company informs that the information disseminated by Mikheil Saakashvili on the financial performance of Ukrnafta PJSC is false.

As noted, the amount of the company’s net profit for 2014 in accordance with the income tax return is UAH 4.495 billion, at total income received for a given year from the sale of goods, work and services of UAH 28 billion.

At the same time, the company recalled that on July 22, a shareholders' meeting of Ukrnafta PJSC is planned to be held to distribute 100% of net income for the previous year.

The company stressed that it would be forced to sue Saakashvili if he did not refute his statement within a week.

"In these circumstances we are compelled to appeal to Mikheil Saakashvili to disprove in a week’s time the unreliable information he publically voiced or report a source of the disclosed data. Depending on the reply, Ukrnafta PJSC reserves the right to sue the persons who make public the unreliable information, or [Mikheil] Saakashvili personally," according to the statement.

"Such provocative statements are inadmissible and do harm to business reputation of the Company, neglect the basic rights and freedoms incorporated in the Constitution of Ukraine and also demonstrate neglect of rules of ethics of a public servant," the company’s statement reads.

As UNIAN reported earlier, according to the company’s financial results, Ukrnafta received UAH 4.495 billion of net profit in 2014. The company's profit before tax amounted to UAH 5.481 billion. Profit tax amounted to UAH 986.6 million. Net sales income amounted to UAH 37.9 billion.

 Additionally, the company reported that it had increased the average salary by 22.4% to UAH 5288.2 with a total number of employees amounting to 26,843. At the same time, the wage fund was expanded by 21.1% (UAH 294.4 million) and amounted to UAH 1.69 billion.

In addition, the company is one of Ukraine’s leading fuel retailers. It operates 563 wholly-owned gas stations under Ukrnafta brand with a presence in most regions of the country.

The company’s 50%+1 shares are owned by Naftogaz of Ukraine, a fully state-owned holding company.

Ukrnafta is listed on the Ukrainian Exchange (UX) in Kyiv. The company’s stock is included in the UX index, Ukraine’s most important equity benchmark. Level 1 ADRs representing Ukrnafta shares are listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
