"From now on, information regarding each bank, including information about the license issued thereto, approval of types of activities and services rendered by the bank, and a history record of changes will be published in PDF format in the "Banking licenses and types of activities the Ukrainian banks engage in" section of the NBU's website," according to the statement.

As Director of the NBU Registration and Licensing Department Leonid Antonenko noted, such move represented a step forward by the National Bank of Ukraine on the path toward bringing greater transparency to its operations.

"We hope that the publication of information about banking licenses issued to banks and types of banking activities will let every citizen exercise the right to access to information in a prompt manner," Antonenko said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in order to increase transparency of the banking system, the NBU started publishing information in January 2015 about the loans disbursed to banks (for a period exceeding 30 days), indicating the name of a bank, the amount and type of the loan, the type of collateral provided and the dates of relevant decisions of the regulator. In July, the NBU started to publish information on the acquisition of a qualifying holding in banks.
