Ukrainian banks losses reach UAH 82 bln in H1

Ukraine's banking system incurred losses of UAH 81.974 billion in January-June 2015, according to the data published on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

Operating banks, excluding those declared insolvent, suffered losses of up to UAH 30.578 billion, according to the NBU.

"Negative financial result of the banking system was formed mainly due to significant provisions for reserves for possible losses from active operations, in particular for loans of borrowers whose solvency has deteriorated. In the first half of 2015, provisions for reserves exceeded 4.4 times their volume in the same period last year," according to the report (available in Ukrainian).

Banks revenues in January-June amounted to UAH 119.834 billion, including operating income making up UAH 109.760 billion.

Expenditures of all banks for the period amounted to UAH 201.808 billion, including operating banks expenditures of UAH 140.338 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in January-May 2015, Ukrainian banks incurred losses of UAH 73.229 billion, which is lower by 11.6%, or UAH 9.573 billion, than in January-April.

In 2014, losses of Ukrainian banks amounted to UAH 52.966 billion.
