Ukraine court cancels Russia Aeroflot's fines for flights to Crimea

The Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine has repealed rulings by courts of previous instances under which Aeroflot Russian Airlines was to pay fines for flights to the Crimea annexed by Russia, and ordered a retrial, according to Ukrainian hromadske.tv.

The fines, which were imposed by Kyiv's Administrative District Court and Kyiv's Administrative Court of Appeals, were cancelled on July 21, 2015.

The Higher Administrative Court concluded that the court of first instance and the court of appeals had not verified the circumstances of the case that were relevant for passing a fair judgment.

In view of these circumstances, the Higher Administrative Court overturned the previous rulings and ordered a retrial.

Earlier, the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine fined the Russian airlines for breaching flight regulations. The fines amounted to nearly UAH 200 million. One of the fines worth UAH 136,000 was cancelled by the Higher Administrative Court.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the State Aviation Administration issued 3,493 rulings for flights carried out by Russian airlines over the territory of the annexed Crimea to the tune of UAH 475.048 million, the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry said.
