Gazprom orders record-high gas transit since year's start

Russian gas monopoly Gazprom has submitted an application for this year's record high amount of gas for transit shipments via Ukraine's gas transportation system (GTS), head of Ukrainian pipeline operator Ukrtransgaz's press service Maksym Biliavsky told UNIAN.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"This morning, Gazprom placed an application to increase gas shipments to Europe and Moldova by 2.4% (compared with the previous day) to 243.6 million cubic meters a day," Biliavsky said.

"This is a record high amount of shipments in the past year," he said.

However, he noted that the transit of Russian gas to Europe has been growing recently.

As UNIAN reported earlier, transit of Russian gas to the EU via Ukraine's GTS from July 1 to July 28, 2015, grew by 28.8%, year-over-year, to 6.137 billion cubic meters (bcm).

Ukrtransgaz forecasts that in 2015 transit shipments of Russian gas to Europe through the territory of Ukraine will decline by 17.7% to 51 bcm from 62 bcm in 2014.
