Ukraine's balance of payments in January-June 2015 saw a $1.3 billion deficit, almost 3.3 times less than the deficit registered in the same period last year at $4.282 billion, according to preliminary estimates published on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
In June the balance of payments demonstrated a surplus of $641 million against the year-over-year deficit of $786 million, the NBU said.
The current account surplus of the balance of payments in January-June amounted to $16 million against the deficit of $2,470 billion in the same period last year.
The capital account of balance of payments in six months had a surplus of $296 million, down by 18% from the year-over-year surplus.
The financial account of the balance of payments in January-June had a surplus of $1.612 billion, which is less by 25.8%, or $561 million, against the same period last year.
The net outflow of foreign direct investment in January-June amounted to $1.211 million, including $820 million in June, according to the regulator.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's balance of payments in January-May 2015 had a deficit of $1.789 billion, almost half of the deficit registered in the same period last year at $3.496 billion.
In 2014, Ukraine saw a balance-of-payments deficit of $13.307 billion against a surplus of $2.023 billion in 2013.
