Ukraine's budget deficit in H1 shrinks by 11 times

Ukraine's national budget in January-June 2015 saw a UAH 2.1 billion deficit, which was almost 11 times lower compared to a deficit of UAH 22.7 billion in the same period in 2014, according to the Ukrainian Finance Ministry.

"The deficit of the state budget in the first six months of 2015 amounted to UAH 2.1 billion, including UAH 800 million in the deficit of the national budget's general fund, whereas the target for the deficit in the period under review was set at UAH 43.2 billion," the ministry said in a statement.

In January-May 2015, the national budget posted a surplus of UAH 5.61 billion.

The consolidated budget, which consists of the national budget and local budgets, was fulfilled with a temporarily excess of budget receipts over outlays in the first half of 2015, posting a UAH 12.3 billion surplus. In the same period last year, the consolidated budget had a UAH 20.8 billion deficit.

The revenues of the national budget January through June 2015 amounted to UAH 244.7 billion, which was UAH 68.8 billion, or 39.1% up year-over-year. The revenues grew by UAH 60 billion, or 34.1%, in comparable conditions without receipts from the sale of 3G licenses.

The consolidated budget in the first six months of 2015 received UAH 298.7 billion in revenues, which was UAH 74.1 billion, or 33% up year-over-year.

The overall expenses of the national budget made up UAH 245.7 billion, which was UAH 48.1 billion, or 24.4%, up year-over-year.

The consolidate budget's spending January through June 2015 amounted to UAH 285.2 billion, which was UAH 41 billion, or 16.8% up on the same period last year.
