Ukraine’s PGO reports on arrested assets of Yanukovych ‘family’

$280 million has been blocked in the accounts of the Yanukovych entourage in the banks across the EU, as of August 10, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reported.

Central Investigative Department of the PGO carries out pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings against several former senior officials and individuals close to them, reports the press service.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian prosecutors continue to attract international organizations to detect and block theassets of Ukraine’s former top officials, according to Tyzhden.ua.

In particular, the report says that in March and April 2014, the EU applied restrictive sanctions against some of these persons on the request of Ukraine’s PGO.

As a result of the sanctions imposed as of October 2014 and as of today, the funds of the following individuals have been frozen:

Mykola Azarov - $0.5 million (Liechtenstein);

Yuriy Ivanyushchenko - $258,000 (Cyprus); $30.82 million, CHF 1.8 million (Latvia); CHF 72 million (Switzerland);

Oleksandr Klymenko - $26.5 million (Liechtenstein);

Andriy Klyuyev – EUR 315,000 (Austria), $9,000 (Austria), CHF 13 million (Switzerland);

Serhiy Klyuyev – EUR 451,000 (Austria), CHF 13 million (Switzerland), EUR 675,000 (United Kingdom);

Serhiy Kurchenko - $1,500 (Latvia), $40,000 and EUR 775 (Cyprus), CHF 200,000 (Switzerland), assets in the amount of EUR 235,000 (Austria);

Oleksandr Yanukovych (the assets of Mako company) – CHF 2.5 million (Switzerland);

Serhiy Arbuzov - $49.5 million (Latvia).

In addition, upon the PGO’s request the funds were arrested in the accounts of Yuriy Ivanyushchenko in the amount of CHF 1.8 million and $30.82 million, as well as of Serhiy Arbuzov - over $33.5 million.

"Investigators are taking legal measures aimed at arresting other blocked funds by submitting international legal orders. In addition, work is continuing with the assistance of international organizations on the search for and blocking the assets of former high-ranking officials," reads the report.

Also the PGO noted that the arrest of foreign accounts of the said persons has not been lifted in the past year.
