Belarus not to disrupt free trade between Ukraine and EU

Belarus is ready to discuss trade and economic-related issues that may arise in connection with the establishment of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei said at a press conference on August 12.

"We have discussed the prospects for our future cooperation, based on the fact that Ukraine signed an association agreement with the EU, while we are members of the Eurasian Economic Union. We do not in any way believe that these things are mutually exclusive. On the contrary, we believe that in this situation it is necessary to find mutually acceptable terms for the future oftrade and economic cooperation," the minister said.

"We do not intend to take any emotional steps, which will focus on the breakdown of the trade and economic cooperation. On the contrary, we are willing to openly and frankly discuss any problem that may arise," Makei said.
