Greek parliament approves deal with international creditors

Most Greek MPs voted to approve the country's third financial rescue by foreign creditors in five years, according to Reuters.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The vote was held after daybreak on Friday after lawmakers bickered through the night over procedural matters. Euro zone finance ministers are expected to approve the vital aid for Athens later on Friday, the report says.

Thanks to support from pro-euro opposition parties, the EUR 85 billion ($95 billion) bailout program easily passed with 222 votes in the 300-seat chamber.

But 43 lawmakers - or nearly a third of deputies from Tsipras's Syriza party - voted against or abstained, well above the three dozen that defied him in a vote on reforms last month.

The package Greece has agreed on with its international lenders will focus on sustainable finances and reforms, leading to a medium term primary surplus of 3.5%, the European Commission said on Friday.

To reach the medium term target, Greece agreed to a primary surplus of 0.25%, 0.5%, 1.75% and 3.5% between 2015 and 2018, the Commission added in a statement issued together with other international creditors.

"The credibility of the agreement is underpinned by a significant number of upfront reforms," the Commission said, listing revenue collection, pensions and health systems as some of the government sectors to be reformed.
