"Two Ukrainian companies have been permitted to export edible chicken eggs to Israel. This is another proof that Ukrainian producers have been improving the quality of produce and are cable of competing on foreign markets," Pavlenko wrote on Facebook.

He also says that Ukraine is interested in boosting trade with Israel and is ready to expand the assortment of its exports.

Export licenses were issued to the Ukrainian egg producers after state veterinarians from Israel had visited seven Ukrainian farms, deputy head of the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service Oleksandr Verzhykhovsky said at a briefing.

Licenses to export eggs to Israel were issued to Berezanska poultry factory in Kyiv region and Avis agri-firm in Khmelnytsky region, Verzhykhovsky said. They will be able to launch egg shipments to that country as early as this year.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine saw a 14.2% decline in egg production January through July 2015 year-over-year, to 10.7 billion eggs, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
