Big Ukrainian companies' pretax loss in H1 exceeds UAH 230 bln

Large- and medium-sized enterprises, excluding budget-sustained organizations, posted UAH 232.617 billion in pretax losses in the first half of 2015, which was 1.7 times up on year-over year, when their pretax losses totaled UAH 135.952 billion, according to Ukraine's State Statistics Service.

The data does not include information from the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol.

Profitable companies boosted their financial results by 7.3% in January-June 2015 year-over-year, to UAH 171.333 billion.

At the same time, loss-making enterprises' results were estimated at UAH 403.951 billion, which was 36.6% up year-over-year.

The share of loss-making enterprises fell by 3.1 percentage points, to 42.3% of all companies operating in the first half of 2015.

As UNIAN reported, large- and medium-sized enterprises, excluding banks and budget-sustained organizations, posted UAH 408.169 billion in pretax losses in 2014 against UAH 38.289 billion in profit in 2013.

Ukraine's banking system alone posted UAH 52.966 billion in losses in 2014. In particular, 52 out of 163 banks operating as of the beginning of the current year were in the red last year.
