The largest Ukrainian state energy holding Naftogaz of Ukraine will increase its claims to the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom in the Stockholm arbitration court, where the parties have filed counter-claims in 2014, according to a company official.

"The very logic of the process assumes that there will be additional claims. Existing claims are dated until January 1, 2015. Accordingly, additional claims regarding what happened after January 1 will also be added at a later stage," Yuriy Vitrenko, director for business development of Naftogaz of Ukraine, told the reporters.

Naftogaz is to announce additional claims in the Stockholm arbitration for the financial losses incurred during the transit of Russian gas to the European Union in 2015.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Gazprom has increased its claims to Naftogaz of Ukraine in the Stockholm arbitration to $29.2 billion from $23.837 billion.

Total claims of Naftogaz to Gazprom amount to $16 billion. Ukraine seeks to revise the overall conditions of the gas contract with Gazprom from 2009, make Russia pay more for gas transit services and also demand compensation for Gazprom’s failure to fulfill contractual terms of transit volumes.
