Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko suggests that casinos and bookmaking should be allowed in Ukraine, as it might bring about UAH 5 billion to the national budget, according to Ukrainian news agency RBC-Ukraine.
"The legalization of gambling will bring up to UAH 5 billion in national budget receipts per year," RBC-Ukraine reported, citing the minister who spoke at a press conference on Monday.
"We could compensate part through legalization in gambling taxation. At a first glance, it seems to be up to UAH 5 billion in budget receipts, however, exact figures will be known during the formation of the budget," Jaresko said.
In her words, a package of laws on gambling will be tabled in parliament for consideration as early as in September.
"At the National Reforms Council on September 3, we'll try to present and form a viewpoint, and [it will be considered at] a Cabinet and at the Verkhovna Rada then, and it will be quicker. For sure, it will happen in September," she added.
