NBU cuts cash payments to UAH 50,000 / Photo from UNIAN
Board of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) will decide in the near future to reduce the maximum amount of cash payments by three times – from current UAH 150,000 up to UAH 50,000, the NBU’s website has reported, with reference to Deputy NBU governor Yakiv Smoliy.
"To my mind, it would be appropriate to resolve this issue at the legislative level, as well as to focus joint efforts of all government agencies on encouraging the development of cashless payments," he said.
According to Smoliy, the public discussion of this initiative continued until August 25.
The regulator said that a total of UAH 276 billion had been registered outside banks at the beginning of September 2015.
