NBU foreign exchange reserves up to $12.6 bln

The foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) grew by 21.6%, or $2.2 billion, in August amounting to $12.6 billion, according to a posting on the NBU's official website.

According to the regulator, the volume of forex reserves has been restored to the level of last October.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in August, the second tranche of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the amount of $1.7 billion, which was approved by the IMF Board of Directors on July 31, was channeled in full to replenishment of the NBU foreign exchange reserves.

Foreign exchange reserves grew in July by 1%, to $10.4 billion.

According to the NBU, forex reserves are forecast to grow to $18 billion at the end of 2015, and to $22 billion at the end of 2016 thank to disbursements under the IMF program.

In 2014, the NBU reserves fell by $12.883 billion, or 63.1%, to $7.533 billion, as of January 01, 2015.
