SBU accuses coal supplier to Centrenergo of financing terrorism

The SBU Security Service of Ukraine has accused the owner of Sodeistvie private enterprise (Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region), a supplier of coal from the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone to power plants of state-run public joint-stock company Centrenergo, of financing terrorists, according to a ruling of the Zhovtnevy District court of Mariupol dated August 11, 2015, which was published in the state register of court rulings.

The SBU said that Sodeistvie, in exchange of financing the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), received a permit from leadership of the terrorists' organization to extract coal on the territories that are not controlled by Ukraine.

It is reported that the cashless money received for coal sold, which is placed in bank accounts, is transferred on behalf of "person 2" to the accounts of other business entities, in particular, Trade Systems LLC (Rostov-on-Don, Russia).

Finally, the funds received for coals sold are distributed between military divisions of the DPR and used to buy military equipment, weapons and engineer equipment to carry out terrorist acts against Ukrainian soldiers and Ukrainian authorities.

The court arrested 37 railway cars with anthracite coal extracted in the interests of the owner of Sodeistvie.

According to data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, the owner of Sodeistvie enterprise is Tatiana Avtonomova. According to media reports, her son Dmitry Avtonomov is said to be a manager of Donbassugol and Vostokuglemet companies.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the state company Centrenergo is experiencing an acute shortage of thermal coal due to hostilities in the east of Ukraine. In August, it imported the first batch of 30,000 tonnes of coal from Russia to meet the needs of Zmiyivska and Trypilska thermal power plants (TPPs).

UNIAN memo. State power generating company Centrenergo operates Vuhlehirska, Zmiyivska and Trypilska TPPs with a total installed capacity of 7,550 MW. 78.29% of shares of Centrenergo are owned by the state, with a 21.71% stake remaining in private hands, including 2.33% owned by individuals, 19.38% - by legal entities, in particular, 10% held by Alfa-Bank.
