The Moscow Exchange has suspended trading in the stock, currency and futures segments, according to Russian news agency TASS, with reference to the Moscow Exchange press office.
"An extraordinary situation occurred on the Moscow Exchange’s stock, currency and futures markets. The time of trading resumption will be announced additionally," the Moscow Exchange said in its Twitter microblog, TASS has reported.
The Moscow Exchange’s official website is unavailable. Specifically, the website’s main page posted only one statement as of 15:25 p.m. Moscow time (12:25 GMT): "Dear clients. An extraordinary situation has occurred on the Moscow Exchange’s stock, currency and futures markets. The time of trading restart will be announced additionally. The Moscow Exchange apologies for inconveniencies."
The Moscow Exchange suspended trading in the Standard market from 14:59 to 15:55 Moscow time (11:59-12:55 GMT) on September 1. Trading in the Moscow Exchange’s other sectors were held in a normal mode.
The Moscow Exchange is preparing to resume trading, using back-up equipment, the bourse said in its Twitter microblog on Tuesday.
"The bourse is preparing for the restart of trading, using back-up equipment. The time of trading resumption will be announced additionally. A failure of network equipment in the exchange’s M1 data-center occurred," the bourse said.
