Ukrainian construction companies to enter foreign markets

"During our morning meeting, Hennady Zubko said that the ministry is searching for the new markets for our construction companies, first of all, the markets of the Middle East. There are very serious developments with respect to Egypt, as well as the former Soviet republics, primarily Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan," said Dmytro Andrievsky, first deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Construction, Urban Development and Housing and Communal Services, following his meeting with the Minister of Regional Development.

At the same time, he said, the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada together with the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine and other relevant organizations representing the interests of the Ukrainian builders, have developed amendments to the law that would give the ability to temporarily lift the moratorium on seizure of agricultural land.

"It's a tough measure, and Rada is to decide. I am confident that it will be supported soon, which will give a “push” to Ukraine’s construction industry," said Andrievsky.

In late May, the president of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Hennady Chyzhykov stated that a number of countries in the Middle East, in particular Jordan and Iran, had shown interest and offered cooperation to Ukrainian construction companies and manufacturers of building materials.
