Gas reserves in Ukraine's underground storage facilities have increased by 1.83%, or 269 million cubic meters (mcm), to 14.964 billion cubic meters (bcm) from September 5 to September 12, according to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, the operator of Ukraine's gas transportation system.
As of September 14, the average daily volume of gas supplies from Slovakia amounts to 25.2 mcm, according to the report. Import of Russian gas was not resumed.
According to the report, gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities amount to 15.01 bcm on the morning of September 14.
"According to the latest data, natural gas is pumped into eight underground storage facilities in line with reasonable technical conditions - 49 mcm per day," the report says.
As UNIAN reported earlier, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Ukraine intends to boost its natural gas reserves to 19 bcm before the beginning of winter heating season in mid-October to ensure uninterrupted gas transit to Europe.
On July 1, Ukraine suspended gas deliveries from Russia after fruitless talks in Vienna and significantly reduced its purchases from the EU. At this, Ukraine expects to mobilize enough funds from international financial organizations by September to secure necessary reserves in its underground gas storage facilities for the next heating season.
