U.S. Ambassador in Kyiv Geoffrey Pyatt has spoken about the importance of the U.S. Department of Energy cooperating with Ukraine in the preparations for the winter heating season, the Kyiv Post reported citing Interfax-Ukraine
"U.S. Department of energy is working closely with Ukraine to prepare for winter and to prepare to respond to any possible challenges," the ambassador said on Twitter on Monday, according to the Kyiv Post.
Pyatt said that today's winter energy planning exercise at Ukrenergo with the participation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk is 'a key step to passing the heating season successfully'," Pyatt tweeted.
As UNIAN reported earlier, special exercises were conducted at Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s operator of the national energy grid, on September 14.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk attending the exercises asked the Energy Ministry to fulfill all the requirements earlier announced by the government for the purchase of coal and loading of the Ukrainian thermal power plants with fuel.
