The National Bank of Ukraine has prohibited eight companies to conduct audits of banks, according to the website of the regulator.
According to the decision of the Committee on auditing banks in Ukraine, these companies are excluded from the Register of audit firms eligible to audit banks.
In particular, the decision concerns Donetskinaudit, Ukrvostokaudit, Ukrainian audit service, Bliskor, Consultant, Orton, STAVR, Finkom-audit.
"Cleaning of the banking system is not just a withdrawal of insolvent banks from the market, but also the prohibition of work with banks to those auditing companies, which gave a positive opinion despite the problems in the financial institutions," Director of the Banking Supervision Department Kateryna Rozhkova said.
According to her, another three companies did not audit the financial statements of banks for an extended period.
"We do not exclude them from the register as there were no formal violations. However, we are not sure that their experience and procedures comply with current requirements. Therefore, we sent a letter to the banks with a proposal to refrain from using the services of these companies," she said.
