Retail trade turnover in Ukraine falls by 23.1% in eight months

Retail trade turnover in Ukraine, excluding the occupied Crimea and the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone in the country's east, fell by 23.1% in January-August 2015 year-over-year, to UAH 647.8 billion, Ukraine's State Statistics Service reported on its website.

The steepest decline in retail trade turnover was registered in Luhansk and Donetsk regions, by 81.1% to UAH 5.3 billion and 69.7% to UAH 21.3 billion, respectively.

Retail trade turnover in western Ukraine decreased least of all in the eight months of 2015: Lviv region saw a 12.8% decline, to UAH 35.6 billion; Chernivtsi region posted a 13.2% decline to UAH 11.3 billion; while Ternopil region reported a 13.4% fall to UAH 12.8 billion.

Retail trade turnover in the city of Kyiv in the eight months shrank by 13.3%, to UAH 99.5 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, retail trade turnover in Ukraine (the occupied Crimea and Donbas excluded) saw a 23.6% decline in January-July 2015 year-over-year, to UAH 559.874 billion (in comparable prices).

In 2014, retail trade turnover in Ukraine shrank by 8.6% from 2013, to UAH 903.535 billion.
