In July 2015, Russia's investment in U.S. Treasury securities totaled $9.7 billion, Russian economic information agency reported with reference to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
The volume of Russia's investment in U.S. Treasury securities increased from $72 billion in June 2015 to $81.7 billion in July 2015, still almost 30% down year-over-year. Russia held U.S. Treasury securities worth $114.5 billion in July 2014, according to the report.
Russia ranks 16th among the major foreign holders of U.S. Treasury securities, with China and Japan topping the list. China holds $1.24 trillion in the securities and Japan $ 1.2 trillion.
