There are no barriers to the abolition from January 1, 2016, of additional import taxes, which were introduced in February to stabilize the country's balance of payments, the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry's press service reported quoting Minister Aivaras Abromavicius.
The ministry said that a thorough analysis of expediency of the additional import taxes had shown that it might be lifted as of January 1, 2016.
The ministry also stressed the importance of macro-financial stabilization, the improvement of the investment climate and economic growth in Ukraine.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Economic Development Ministry reported, referring to its data, that the introduction of the additional import taxes had had a positive impact on the balance of payments, which has strengthened, and on the foreign currency reserves, which have expanded. The overall economic impact from a reduction in imports amounted to $1 billion.
Earlier, the General Council of the World Trade Organization confirmed that the introduction of the additional import taxes was in compliance with Ukraine's international obligations.
