The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported that the decline of the index of production in Ukraine's major industries continued slowing to 6.9% in August 2015 compared to August 2014 from 8.4% in July 2015 compared to July 2014.
The index continued falling amid a drastic decline in industrial production in August year-over-year to 5.8% from 13.4% in July, the NBU said on its website.
The regulator says that the comparative base effect played a key role, as there was a steep decline in industrial production in August 2014 when a large number of companies ceased work due to the Donbas conflict.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the decline in industrial production in Ukraine in August 2015 slowed to 5.8% compared to August 2014 from 13.4% in July 2015 year-over-year, according to the State Statistics Service.
At the same time, industrial production in August 2015 fell by 4.2% from July 2015.
Industrial production January through August 2015 declined by 18% from the same period last year.
