Two western trading companies are starting the import of gas to Ukraine today, which is to be further sold to Ukrainian consumers, Naftogaz of Ukraine CEO Andriy Kobolev wrote in Facebook.
"Two western gas traders that for the first time have accepted our proposal and will import gas to Ukraine (not to the Ukrainian border, but with further customs clearance and resale to consumers within the country) are starting work in tandem in the Ukrainian gas market," Kobolev wrote, without naming the companies.
He noted that traders are willing to pay value added tax on gas supplies in Ukraine.
"[And this is] despite a difficult economic situation in Ukraine. Despite strict regulations of foreign exchange transactions. Despite the lack of sufficient predictability of the future pace of reform on the market," Naftogaz CEO noted.
He also wished success to these new players on the Ukrainian gas market.
