NBU: Ukraine's gold and forex reserves exceed $13 bln

"As of today, our international reserves are higher than $13 billion," she said.

In her words, the Central Bank has been replenishing the reserves at the expense of forex purchases on the market and loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other partners.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the NBU's international reserves in August 2015 expanded by 21.6%, or $2.2 billion, to $12.6 billion. They grew due to a new tranche from the IMF and other funds from international creditors and NBU forex operations.

Under the Extended Fund Facility program with the IMF, the Ukrainian central bank plans to expand the reserves to $18 billion by the end of 2015.

In 2014, the reserves shrank by 63.1%, or $12.883 billion, to $7.533 billion as of January 1, 2015.
